Graveyard Keeper 2 The Grand Inquisitor

You are not a hired grave-digger this time. You are the official who owns the shovel and the army.

Grand Inquisitor

Steam’s first sentence for Graveyard Keeper 2 is a job title: You are the Grand Inquisitor now. That is the sequel’s character pitch. The 2018 Keeper was a marooned worker with a donkey and a bad contract. The 2026 Keeper is a civic weapon. This page collects what that title means in art, UI, and systems — without inventing a backstory Lazy Bear has not published.

Play the role with Getting Started. Dress it with the pre-order outfit. Spend its political capital on rebuild the Town.

What the poster says

The Steam header (this wiki’s game-header.jpg) shows a bearded white man, red hair, white tunic, purple trousers, shovel high, skull in the left hand, orange sky, graves, a donkey, two armed zombies, and the stone-and-blood Graveyard Keeper II logo. Read the pose: one hand works, one hand judges. That is the Inquisitor loop in a single still.

In-game screenshots are less heroic and more accurate. The Garden shot used on Getting Started is the same body type carrying a log like a porter. The Graveyard shot has him hunched over a plot with an [F] prompt. The Workshop shot puts him in the aisle as a floor manager. The street-combat shot puts a green HP bar over his head in an alley. The Inquisitor is a title you wear while you still haul wood.

Character tab, not a silent avatar

The pause UI includes a Character tab beside Tech Tree, Inspirations, Quests, and Map. April’s press list promised character customization. Combined with a platform-specific Inquisitor outfit, that tab is where cosmetics and whatever stats they ship will live. We have not seen the grid of sliders. Do not expect the 2018 prayer/sermon sheet to copy over.

Inspirations being a peer tab is interesting. In the original game, inspiration was a resource for unlocking tech. If that meaning survived, the Inquisitor still has to think, not only command. If it now means a perk tree, we will screenshot it after September 22, 2026 and update this paragraph.

Duties that come with the badge

Official bullets map to four departments. The Inquisitor is the only employee who sits in all of them:

  1. Cemetery — still bury, still score skulls (graveyard)
  2. Production — still harvest, now with machines (automation)
  3. Military — arm Possession-Free troops (zombie army)
  4. Civic — restore homes, invoice the living (rebuild the Town)

The satire is that a holy office makes the corpse market look legal. You do not need a lore dump to use that. You need to remember that Town comfort today is tomorrow’s sinner intake, as the May diary hinted.

Customization and the bonus outfit

Pre-order language: an outfit “worthy of the new Grand Inquisitor,” different per platform. That is a costume, not a class. It will not replace Simple Weapons. Put it on for screenshots; keep the shovel for work. If you care which color you wear, buy on the hardware you will stream — see platforms.

The April feature list also mentioned customization in the base game. Expect at least a few non-bonus hats. We will not list fake DLC skins.

Combat identity

Trailers tell the Inquisitor to slash to victory. Screenshots still show a four-slot hotbar full of food. You are a manager who can fight, not a Souls protagonist. Barricades and zombie infantry are how an Inquisitor wins a street; the blue radius device in the combat still is the office supplying a miracle. Train troops. Do not duel the siege alone because the poster made you look tall.

How this wiki will track the character after launch

  • Name, if the save file shows one besides “Keeper”
  • Character-tab stats
  • Outfit IDs per platform
  • Any sermon / judgment minigame that replaces the 2018 church sheet

Until those exist, this page stays a role guide. For the talking prop in the other hand, read skull companion. For everyone you invoice, read townsfolk.

The Grand Inquisitor is a promotion that comes with more unpaid staff and a bigger map. If that sounds like a raise, you will like the sequel’s joke. If you wanted to stay a quiet gravedigger, the title is the warning on the tin.
